Patricia A Brophy(Pat)72 of South Toms River, passed away peacefully
Tuesday February 7, 2012 at home surrounded by her children. She was a
communicant of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Bayville. Pat was a 1985
Summa Cum Laude graduate of Georgian Court College where she received a
BS in Social Work and was a social worker for the past 24 years at
several nursing home facilities, recently retiring from Elderlife
Management of Neptune in 2010. Pat loved her work as well as the people
she worked with and her patients. Her smile could light up a room and
her laugh was one to be remembered. She had a passion for horses and a
love of her beloved horse Morgan, many of her spare hours were spent at
the stable of the Lakewood Riding Center. Born and raised in the Bronx,
New York she moved to South Toms River 46 years ago. She was predeceased
by her daughter Ellen and her husband Gerald Sr.
She is survived by two sons, George of Albany, NY, Gerald R. of South
Toms River; three daughters, Laurie Martello and her husband Kent of Egg
Harbor Twp; Tara Gant and her husband Skip of Stroudsburg PA and Cynthia
Contillo and her husband LJ of Weaverville, NC; two sisters, Kay Cody of
MA and Eileen Noto (Frank) of Delray Beach, FL. Grandchildren; Shaun and
Todd Brophy, Julie Gordon, Jessica Vecchio, Shannon and Matthew Gant,
Sean Contillo and Nicole Brophy, as well as four great grandchildren;
Kaylee Eckert, Victor Otero, Alyssa Vecchio and Austin Brophy.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Hampton Ridge Rehab Center,
Care Alternative Hospice as well as the South Toms River Volunteer First
Aide Squad. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Care
Alternative Hospice, The American Cancer Society or the South Toms River
Volunteer First Aide Squad.
Visitation will be held at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave, Toms
River on Friday, February 10, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. A funeral service
