Obituary of Richard Vassos

Richard Vassos, 57 of Brick, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Born and raised in Newark, he lived in Bloomfield, moving to Brick in 1998. He was a member of the Ocean Township pool and tennis club. Richard was considered a Dad to all who came to know him. He was considered a jack of all trades, a counselor, comforter and friend, a story teller and a giant among men. He is survived by his loving daughter Jennifer D. Vassos and her husband Gary Saporita of Brick, his loving sons, John Lennon O'Shea of Bloomfield, and Richard Vassos, Jr, and his wife Christina of Bloomfield; his beautiful granddaughter Toniann M. Saporita of Brick; the beloved mother of his children, Diana O'Shea of Bloomfield; sister, Iris Vassos and brother Mark Vassos, both of Toms River; nieces Lexi Allen and Mellisa Reed and great nephew Hayden Reed of Toms River. A Blessing so rare, a blessing so true: is none other than a pop-pop like you. A memorial gathering will be held Friday, from 7 to 9 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River. In lieu of flowers donations to the family would be appreciated.
