William A. Raub was called home on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. He was born on Nov. 16, 1917 in Newark, NJ to Albert and Phoebe Raub. He rejoins his beloved wife, Margaret, his daughter Virginia and his granddaughter Lee.
As patriarch of 5 generations, he leaves behind his daughter Victoria Pollice and her husband Gary; 6 grandchildren: Cynthia Walters, William Walters and his wife Melissa, Stephen Walters, Glenn Walters and his wife Lynn, Ginger Walters and Christian Pollice and his wife Lisa, as well as a loving daughter-in-law Monika Walters of Budapest, Hungary. He also leaves 15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
William served with the Army in both Pacific and European theaters during World War II. William and Margaret lived in East and West Orange until moving to Ortley Beach, NJ in 1970 where they raised several of their grandchildren after the passing of their daughter, Virginia Walters. William loved traveling with his wife and rejoiced in the love and warmth of family gatherings. He loved quietly and with prayerful concern. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church of Lavallette, NJ to which memorial donations may be made. A memorial service will be held in the spring after the church's recovery from super-storm Sandy.
