Obituary of Jeffrey G. Smith

Jeffrey Gerard Smith passed away the morning of Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. He was held lovingly by his parents during his transition into eternal peace. Jeffrey was born and raised in Beachwood, NJ for most of his life until moving to Bayville for the past 4 years. Born September 26, 1975, Jeffrey was a bright and energetic young man and in his youth, he participated in sports including St. Joseph Angels Football, Beachwood/Pine Beach Little League, and Soccer. His first educational years started at St. Paul's preschool in Beachwood then attended St. Joseph Grade School in Toms River. He graduated from Toms River High School in 1993 where his love of baseball flourished and his talent for playing outfield excelled being awarded the Gold Glove Award in the year they won the South Jersey State Group III Championship. He continued his play of baseball at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. Jeffrey loved to connect with people. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8603, St. Barnabas Parish, Bayville, NJ. Jeffrey is survived by his parents, Francis James Smith and Patricia (Colvin) Smith; sisters, Amanda (Smith) Long (Timothy), Cassandra (Smith) Neilson (Brian), and 5 nieces and nephews, Brian Jr., Zach, and Jake Neilson, and Dylan and Emma Long, and one great-niece, Olivia Neilson. Visitations will be held at Kedz Funeral Home on Thursday, October 28th between 6 and 8 pm followed on Friday, October 29th with a Mass at St. Barnabas Parish, Bayville, NJ at 9:30 am. Burial will immediately follow the church service at Riverside Cemetery in Toms River, NJ.
