Joe, you have touched so many souls in this life. You have reached and mentored many people both musically and personally, including myself. You have made so many people better within their crafts and made them so much more inclined. One of those people were me. And I am blessed to have been one of your many muses. You are the definition of the word “crescendo“. You always keep climbing and climbing. My love, thanks and respect to you always for tattooing your wisdom on my heart. Rest well brother. You will always be a part of us all. Divine Love

Joe has been my brother for almost 20 years. He has taught me so much about music. We spent nearly every day with each other. I will always remember the long nights in his recording studio, our shows at The Stone Pony. He introduced me to so many of his friend which are now part of my family. The best gift he ever gave me is to be the godfather of his son Joey. I made him a promise to always be there for Joey. I will do whatever it takes for him. I miss him so much. God bless you Joe. Please look over your family and friends.

In your presence once at an event, and that told me all I needed to know about Joe the person. You made a lasting impression on me, and I thank you for the laughs and spirited conversation along with Danielle and JJ. I am sad you left them too soon, along with all your family and friends. You certainly made a difference here, which I am sure will happen in Heaven. Play loud and long young man...until we all meet again. God speed.

I’m trying to put into words the terrible and much to soon loss of our Joe. Joe and I met in August 1994 and in that short time we formed a friendship that is hard to describe. Joe was a tremendously talented and wonderfully giving person. We shared our passions for sports and music and a sense of humor that will be sorely missed. Joe was a helping hand I needed recently, never questioning what had happened, just giving me some help I needed, never making you feel you owed him. Joe, your heart, soul, smile and giving nature will be hard to replace. I hope we all can take some of what Joe gave and make our world better. Sincere condolences from Pete and all the Dowd family.

Joe is a good guy. A real friend. With all of his great music projects and bands, he always remembered "the little guys" in music. My students at NJRockhouse were always looking up to him as their promoter. He was the big-league. He put on Big shows; notably those famous Saturday night shows at the Stone Pony.
So, these kids were maybe an average of 14 or 15 years old, and they worked hard. They were happy to give their proceeds to Ocean of Love; a local charity helping kids with cancer.
Joe always invited them to open his shows, and they were thrilled!
Kids with a couple guitars don't get many opportunities in this world. Certainly, nothing like the magnitude of Joe's shows.
I'll remember Joe forever as the guy who made sure these kids had a stage to play on, in a big club, on a big night, with lights and smoke and sound from the best pros in the business.
I guess he remembered what it was like as kid, and how hard it was to get a show.
After 40 years in the music scene, running the local guitar shop, and all of that, I can list for you everyone who Ever made that kind of effort to help the local kids for the best reasons.
Joe was that list.
The NJRockhouse family feels this loss immensely. Because Joe was one of a kind, a great leader, and an example of how we should all live our lives.
Rest easy, Joe. Love you, my brother.
