Obituary of Faga Sara Fiorino
Please share a memory of Faga to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Faga Sara Dober Fiorino passed away on November 1st, 12 days shy of her 91st birthday.
Born in Lakewood, NJ to the late Ann and Jack Dober, Faga lived there most of life before moving to Jackson in 1962. She spent her HS years in Baltimore, MD. Faga graduated with an associate degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. She was a textile designer for Hilda Pertha and told of seeing one of her designs on a dress in Macy’s window.
Faga worked as receptionist in the Lakewood offices of ophthalmologists Portenar and Berkowitz for many years and then for chiropractor Zeff Lazinger.
She was an award winning artist and an active member of the Ocean County Artists Guild. She shared her talents as an artist with her grandson Greg.
In addition to her parents Faga is pre-deceased by her husband John.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Kathi and Will Evans and Cindy and Tom Johnson. More than anything Faga loved her grandchildren often saying that she wished she skipped children and went right to grandchildren (sometimes only ½ jokingly). Grandma Faga leaves behind William Evans and his wife Sandra, Greg Johnson, Alison Spangler and her husband Austen, and Kristen Krusieski and her husband Mike. She was GG to Conner John, William IV, Paxton John, and Brinley Ann.
She will be remembered by all that knew her for her fashion sense, generous spirit, her love of all things sparkly, and her travels to Italy.
A celebration of her life and art will be held at the Ocean County Artists Guild 22 Chestnut Ave in Island Heights from 2-5pm on Thursday November 11th. In lieu of flowers please donate to the OCAG in her memory. Checks can be mailed to them at PO Box 1156 Island Heights, NJ 08732-1156.
