Obituary of Margaret I. Wrable
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret I. Wrable, of Toms River, passed away on May 8, 2023. She was 93. Margaret was born in her parent’s home in Jersey City, NJ. She had two loving and hard-working parents, Margaret and Thomas and reflected fondly on times spent with her siblings, Thomas, Ruth, Jean, Robert, June, and William. She enjoyed her school years at Ferris and Snyder High Schools and loved going to the local soda and ice cream shops with her friends. It was always an eye-opening experience to hear how her family lived during those years. As a young woman, Marge worked for several companies, including New Jersey Bell, Snow Kist Frozen Foods, and Garfunkel Electric Company.
Marge married John Wrable on September 4, 1954 and were blessed to have three beautiful daughters, Margaret, Susan, and Mary. Marge always said that her children “decorated her life”. She was a hard worker, but wanted to pursue the most challenging and important profession of all, a full-time mother. She reared and nurtured her children in a fun and loving environment, and seemed forever in her car driving them to sports and other activities. Marge loved and admired children, regularly had a houseful, and always welcomed anyone into her home with open arms. Her entire life was devoted to her children and grandchildren, and she remained committed to supporting them with her love and guidance until her death.
Marge had five grandchildren, Maris, Molly, Ryan, Joseph, & Jacob. She felt deeply blessed and enjoyed spending time with them; each provided her with their love and special relationship. Marge felt a special gratitude to her first grandchild, Maris, who provided her with tender, personal care during her last few years of life. She also had a soft spot in her heart for Maris’ partner, Scott, and his daughter, Ariel.
Marge also had two sons-in-law, Susan’s husband, Robert Scott and Mary’s husband, Jack Winchell. She also cherished her relationships with many of her nieces and nephews and always felt loved and supported by the Guido family, fondly remembering many large holiday feasts at their home in North Bergen.
Marge had a passion for helping others. She enjoyed years of volunteer work, spending countless hours as a member of the East Dover Elementary School PTA and the High School East Booster Club. She also devoted herself to raising funds for Community Medical Center through the Red Oak Auxiliary and the Second Time Around Consignment Shop. She also helped work in her assisted living facility’s Cozy Corner Gift Shop, and as a Welcome Ambassador comforting new residents as they transitioned into their new home. She had the ‘gift of gab’, spoke to everyone that crossed her path, and naturally provided emotional support to those in need of it.
Marge’s positive attitude, sense of humor, and relentless grip on a good quality of life endured through many medical hurdles, including breast cancer, macular degeneration, and the inhuman isolation imposed by COVID. Marge was grateful for the kind and tender care provided by her physician and son-in-law, Robert, who actively included her in all decision making, and graciously helped ease her passing in our home, surrounded by family.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family that care to may make a contribution to their favorite children’s charity. Alternatively, because Marge was forever grateful to the NJ State Library Talking Book and Braille Center, a donation to this organization would also be appreciated.
Finally, thank you to all who touched Marge’s life. She so enjoyed her family and friends; leaving this earth was difficult. She wanted to send along a message to everyone: your family is a precious gift…cherish every moment with them.
Services will remain private for the family.
