Think of Denise and the Vella Family, my neighbors since I was a child.

Denise and my dad, John, were cousins. They didn't come into each other's lives until they were older but once my dad met and learned he was indeed part of the Langwasser family, we were all elated. Denise and Lou were always so welcoming and loving. Her loss will be felt by many and I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Condolences to Denise's Family. I was a friend of Gayle, and Denise was always the little sister. Gayle and I went to school together and we both lived in Silverton. I reconnected with Denise on Facebook for years. Such a beautiful lady.

The Vellas moved in next door to the O’Donnells on Alfred Lane when I was 7 or 8. My mom Barbara, and Denise became fast bffs and conveniently, so did my dad and Lou. Their friendship lasted 50+ years until my parents passed in 2019 and 2021. Denise “stood in” for my mom at my daughters baby shower in 2020 and at my brothers 50th birthday party. I was so grateful for her support when my mom passed. I have great memories of our backyard fires, shucking clams, Lou singing, and lots of laughter. Denise had a great laugh and if you were around, you always felt included in her joy. When Dena and Chad came along we made signs to hang on the garage to welcome them home, and Denise was so grateful and touched I remember feeling so proud that I helped make them! Then I became the babysitter! Our parents would get together on Saturday evenings in one of our houses and I would babysit at the other house. Denise was always so generous and always made me feel I was important and appreciated. As a child, I always felt she was one the nicest mom on the block! As I grew into adult hood, the joke was to try to call her Denise, as we had to call our dear neighbors Mr and Mrs out of respect growing up. I will always be grateful for the unconditional friendship she have my mom and for the joy and kindness she showed us all. May she rest in peace until we are all reunited in eternal life.

I met Denise a few years ago when I was her Moms home health aide. We clicked and remained friends through Facebook. She would always leave the nicest comment on my photos. We had a little joke together about a beach picture-now whenever I take that “beach check -in” picture of my legs and the ocean in view, I will think of Denise and smile. I would go sit with Ruth on New Years Eve so Denise and Lou could have a fun night out. May Denise now Rest in Peace with her Mom. Two very sweet women whom I’ll never forget. My condolences to Lou, Dena and Chad

I've known Denise my whole life and this is the first time I've referred to her as Denise. She was and always will be Mrs. Vella and I use that because I have the most sincere and deepest respect for her and Lou. I grew up with the Vella family like my second family and always thought of Mrs. Vella as a second mom. Even though I haven't seen her as much as I'd like to in recent years I will miss her dearly. The world seems a little less bright without her.

I remember my first time ever meeting “Grandma Denise”. Being her only grandchild’s girlfriend, I was convinced this was going to be an intense conversation. When I walked into Denise & Lou’s house I was met with nothing but love, kindness, hugs and excitement! Not only did they treat me that way but they treated everyone they met with that warmth and kindness. I will never forget our big family dinners and everyone picking on Denise because she was a “butter in the fridge” kind of girl, but now I must admit that I too, am a “butter in the fridge” gal myself!

GiGi sure was one of a kind. She was so bring and bubbly, even through her toughest times, her great granddaughter, Blake Ivy Mitchell, shared some of her first smiles and smirks with her!
