Obituary of Jim Bien, Sr.

James J. Bien, Sr., 81 of Manchester Township, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2023. Jim was born in East Orange, NJ and graduated from Irvington Technical with a degree in sheet metal welding, and also received his Black Seal license. Jim served in the US Navy aboard the ISS CVA-62 for four years and worked the majority of his life for NJ Transit. Jim devoted his extra time at Manchester Fire Company #1 and achieved a life member status. Jim leaves behind in sorrow, his beloved wife of 59 years, Virginia; one daughter, Regina (Samuel) Potter of Florida; two sons, James (Lori) of Tenn, and Joseph (Lori) of Toms River; six grandchildren, Kevin, Christina, Jade, Ryan, Abby and Justin; a couple kids Jim loved as his own, his nephew and nieces. Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Friday at St. John’s R.C. Church, 619 Chestnut St., Lakehurst. Burial will be held 11:00am Thursday, September 21, 2023 at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
