Obituary of Richard R. Roemmele, Jr.

Richard R. Roemmele, Jr., age 74, of Ortley Beach, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 19th, 2024 after a short illness. Richard, affectionately known as "Richie" or "Big Rich," was born on December 20th, 1949 in Newark, NJ to Richard Sr. and Edith Roemmele (Padavano). He was raised in Newark and attended Irvington Tech High School and worked at Port Newark before moving to Ortley Beach, NJ in 1972 to start his family and his construction business, which he ran for over 50 years until his death. There, with Maria, he raised his greatest joys, his three sons, Richard III, Jeffrey, and Douglas Roemmele.  He loved the Dallas Cowboys, enjoyed playing basketball and was also a member of the Ortley Beach First Aid Squad, making Captain in 1975. Rich loved making people's dream houses come to life, sparing no detail and built houses up and down the barrier island and beyond.  He also loved cooking and spending time with his six grandchildren, Gianna, Aaron, Kyle, Ava, Cooper, and Cody. Richard was predeceased by his parents Richard and Edith and brother, Jerry Parlavecchio.  He is survived by his sons Richard (Gianna, Kyle, Ava) Jeffrey (Aaron) and Douglas and his wife Lynore (Cooper, Cody); and his companion Kathleen Yoars of Peru, Indiana, along with many cousins, friends and neighbors. The family will recieve friends and relatives on Thursday, January 25th from 3p-6p at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. Cremation to follow will be private.
