Obituary of Carla C. Jones

Carla C. Jones, 84 of Brick passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 7, 2024. Carla was born in St. Petersburg, FL but grew up in Toms River. She graduated from Trenton State University with a bachelor’s degree. She began her first teaching job in Toms River and later moved to New Brunswick where she was a middle school Physical Education Teacher at Dag Hammarskjold for over 30 years. She retired in the mid 90’s. Carla was a resident of Brick for over 35 years. She was a very respected and active member of the community. She volunteered at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ for over 20 years and donated to 50 different charities every year. For those that knew her would describe her as the most selfless giving person, a natural born optimist. She had the friendliest smile and laugh and loved her family dearly. Carla enjoyed traveling, gardening, and knitting. She would knit hats, booties, and throw blankets for the maternity units in local hospitals. She is predeceased by her mother, Norma, sister, Sandy, and nephew, Jamie. Carla is survived by her brother-in-law, John Sullivan; niece, Lori Ann Truett; nephew, Shawn Sullivan, and many cousins, extended family, and friends. A memorial gathering will take place on Friday, May 3, 2024, from 2 - 4 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River.
