Obituary of Joan A. Hamadyk

Joan Ann (McLeod) Hamadyk, age 88, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, after battling breast cancer for several months. Originally from Carteret, New Jersey, Joan moved to Toms River, New Jersey in 1972 where she resided until her death. Joan’s beloved husband, Joseph Hamadyk, predeceased her in August 1984. For over 30 years, Joan worked at the Ocean County Prosecutor’s office where she made many lifelong friends and great memories. She was a member of the Toms River South bandwagon parent association, supporting all three of her children’s band activities. Joan is survived by her two sons David and Barry (Kelly Hamadyk), and her daughter Susan (Bill Patroski). Her youngest son, Kerry Joseph pre-deceased her as an infant. She was grandmother to David’s son: Kevin Hamadyk; Susan’s children: Michael Patroski, Christine (Patroski) Fisher, and Ryan Patroski; and Barry’s children: Samantha Hamadyk and Rebecca Hamadyk. Joan’s sense of humor, pride for her children and grandchildren, and direct, no-nonsense personality defined who she was. Joan was a very talented vocalist. Her children remember her singing show tunes and classic tunes around the house during their childhood. She would call each of them on their birthdays first thing in the morning to sing happy birthday every year. Those phone calls, like her, will be missed, never to be replaced. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 7 - 9 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ.
