Please share a memory of Sandra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sandra Louise Blostein (née Teiter) of Pine Beach, NJ died after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the age of 76. Born and raised in Staten Island, NY, she lived in Manhattan and Staten Island prior to her marriage in 1983, when she moved to Edison, NJ, and later lived in Lakewood, NJ before settling in Pine Beach nearly 22 years ago. After attending the Parson's School of Design in New York City, she continued a career in the fashion industry in Manhattan, culminating in working as the New York City showroom manager for Patti Cappalli / California. While working for her friend and designer Patti, she met her future husband Jay, having shared countless elevator rides to the same work floor. They married in 1983, and Sandy retired completely from work a few years later to devote herself full-time to raising their daughter Veronique, who was born in 1987. Art was her entire life's passion, and she became an extremely accomplished artist after years of practice and training. In recent years, her paintings have been displayed in a number of galleries both locally in NJ and in upstate NY. Her forte was painting in pastels, and she enjoyed traveling to the Adirondacks over numerous summers to paint "En Plein Air" to join with fellow artists. Sandy enjoyed living near the shore and especially loved painting the marshes, a favorite subject for many of her paintings. She was a talented watercolorist as well. She was a former member of the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA), as well as The Society of Decorative Painters (SDP) and Tole Time at the Jersey Shore. Sandy is survived by her devoted husband Jay, and their daughter Veronique of Eatontown, NJ. She is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Beatrice Teiter of Staten Island, and her sister Denise Restivo of Pine Beach. She also leaves behind her loving nieces and nephews: Christine Mulvania of Houston, TX; Diana Dudash (Josh) of Yardley, PA; Rebecca Wolf of Coronado, CA; Courtney Blostein of Ada, MI; Matthew Wolf (Belle) of Dublin, CA; and Aaron Blostein of Salt Lake City, UT. She loved her great-nieces and great-nephews as if they were her own grandchildren. Arrangements are being managed through Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River, NJ (www.kedzfuneralhome.com), where a private gathering will be held. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday, December 30th at 11:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 685 Hooper Ave., Toms River, NJ, to be followed by a private internment. Donations may be sent to: ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
