Benedetto "Benny the Barber" D'Angelo, 94 of Berkeley Twp., passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Benny became an apprentice barber at age 11, and later opened Benny's Barber Shop in Newburgh, NY where he barbered for 55 years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as an Italian translator. While stationed in Sicily, he met his beautiful wife, "Lina", and upon returning to America, he resumed barbering at his shop before retiring to Toms River, NJ in 1986.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Josephine Pira in 2000, his son, Benjamin D'Angelo in 2001, and his beloved wife, Angela D'Angelo in 2013.
Surviving are his granddaughters Alanna D'Angelo of Memphis, TN, and Vanessa D'Angelo of Tampa, FL.; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren in California.
