Obituary of Bernice M. Karcanes

Bernice M. Karcanes, 84 of Toms River , passed away Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Van Dyke Hospice Center, Toms River Bernice worked for the Callen Photo Mount Co., in Jersey City for 35 years, retiring in 2005. Bernice was a volunteer for the Greenville American Little League and Babe Ruth League in Jersey City . She touched not only the lives of her family, but also the lives of those who knew her. She was an inspiration to all and will be greatly missed. Born in Jersey City , she was a life long resident there, moving to Toms River 5 years ago. She was predeceased by her brother Fred Brehne in March of 2005.. Bernice is survived by her three devoted children, James Hillman of Bayonne, Louis Karcanes of Glen Rock and Virginia Markou of Toms River; her loving grandchildren, Vanessa amd her husband Nathan, Andrew, Alexander, Louis and Delaine; and her precious great granddaughter, Effie Dickinson. Friends are invited to celebrate Bernice’s life with her family at the Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave. , Toms River , on Thursday from 2 to 4 pm with a memorial service at 4.
