Obituary of Paul H. Springfield

Paul H. Springfield, 68, of Oakhurst, NJ, joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. Paul was born in Neptune, NJ and raised in Ocean Township. He graduated from Asbury Park High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Trenton State University. He worked for 32 years as an industrial arts teacher at Asbury Park School District. After retiring from that position he founded Paramount Pools with his two sons and served in that company for 18 years. Paul was a man of faith and served as a deacon in the church, Sunday school teacher and in numerous capacities to use his gifts and talents to take care of whatever needed to be done. He will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, work ethic, willingness to go out of his way to help anyone in need ("you call, I come") and most importantly his love of the Lord and passion for sharing the good news of the Gospel with everyone. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Beatrice Springfield. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jessica Gillman Springfield; daughter Dawn Robyn and her husband Paul of Manns Choice, PA; son Aaron Springfield and his wife Susan of Jackson, NJ; daughter Sharon Derber and her husband Mark of Manassas, VA; and son Daniel Springfield and his wife Dawn of Jackson, NJ. Paul was blessed to have 20 grandchildren: Meredith Robyn Chandler of Atlanta, GA; Emily, Abigail, Anna and Joy Robyn of Manns Choice, PA; Morgan, Madison, Hope, Chloe, Caleb, Brooke and Bristol Derber of Manassas, VA; Ashleigh, Rebekah, Benjamin and Owen of Jackson, NJ; and Lauren, Lily, Layla, and Lana Springfield of Jackson, NJ. He also is survived by his sister Karen Schwelling of Helena, AL. A viewing will be held Tuesday, April 5th between 4 – 8 PM at the First Baptist Church on 3rd and Grand Avenue in Asbury Park. The memorial service is scheduled for 10 AM on Wednesday, April 6th also at First Baptist Church. The burial service will be at 1:30 PM on the 6th of April at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, US Hwy 1, in Woodbridge, NJ. A celebration dinner in honor of Paul's life will be held at 5:00 PM that afternoon at First Baptist Church.
