Jack and I were close when he taught French at Meyers in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. I began to wonder how he was, so I put his name in the computer and was sad to learn that he passed away at such a young age. How well I remember his good looks and how he made me laugh. I can recall so many comical events involving Jack. I wish I could share them, but unfortunately, I've lost touch with his sisters and brothers. I will always love Jack, will remember him in my prayers, and will have Mass said for him at my church.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in God's sure promise of a resurrection as set forth in the Bible. (Acts 24:15; John 5:28,29) Those who are raised to life will have the prospect of never again being subject to misery, sickness, or death. (Revelation 21:4) I hope that reflecting on these thoughts will give you some relief during this difficult time.

I was lucky enough to have Mr K as my French teacher at Int East for '77 & '78. He was a really special teacher & human being and his connection with kids was great. Sometimes when you are young and growing up you meet people that you have no idea you will remember them for the rest of your life. Mr K was one of them for me. His friendliness and support for kids was amazing. I can remember he ran an indoor gym hockey league back then(at Cedar Grove I think) which was great fun and laid the groundwork for me becoming a hockey fan(Sorry Jack, can't stand the Flyers still, lol)
I did not stay in contact with him through high school or college or after, but whenever I might run into him in town, he would stop and talk, making me feel like he always remembered me and was interested in what was going on. I did cross paths with him after college playing softball in a Toms River rec league for many years and he was still that person you always felt was your friend.
Thank you Mr K for crossing paths with my life and showing me there are some truly great people out there. The world would be such a better place if there were more people like you. God bless you and your family

Mr. K was my first boss when I began working as a Playground Assistant at the township recreation program. What a wonderful man and mentor to me as I worked in the program all through high school and college. He gave me the chance to move up to direct my own playground and later do the arts and crafts program. I myself am a teacher - I teach math - and he was definitely an encouraging force in my chosen path and helped me in many ways. Sincerest sympathies on your family's loss.

Jack was simply the best. Greatest of memories of him in recreation activities and Intermediate East inspiration. Sorry to see him go but remember all he meant to so many.

I had Jack for the best French class ever but also spent many summers with him at Shelter Cove rec.
He was a wiry whiz, extremely quick witted, loved basketball, hockey a grillmaster, competitive but not to a fault. He really epitomized the great rec programs from the 60s and 70s in Dover Township. Who could forget the watermelon eating and bubble gum blowing contests, the peanut and candy hunts, the weekly beach trips to Ortley, the Ocean County fairs, the float parades, softball and track and field, the two overnights at Riverwood park and the final awards ceremony in August.
He got me hired at the Easy Dover rec and later at the Winding River roller skating rink. Jack helped me and my father navigate the complex and cumbersome college financial aid system, resulting in a free ride to Boston U.
He was a force of life and battled multiple cancers. He showed resilience and grit and was a source of strength when I was hospitalized in the mid-90s.
While visiting with my family from Sweden a few years ago, we ran into him and Mr. Bevilacqua at the Driftwood Deli on Fischer Blvd. He held court for half an hour, cracking jokes, freeing up memories from long ago. He was happy. He made us happy. He will not be forgotten.
Our deepest condolences to Barbara, Jack Jr., Colleen and Erin and their families.
Rest in Peace John, Jack, Mr K. Every day IS a good day!

Love you Jack. You were a good friend and an example of courage, devotion, loyalty and compassion. We will continue to share a beer and a joke somewhere sometime I am sure. God Speed. Tom H.
