Stanley C. Bukowski, age 90, of Whiting, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 27, 2018. He was born in Newark and at a young age, was sent to be raised by relatives in Poland. He was returned to the US in 1938 and lived in Newark, Irvington and Bloomfield before settling in Whiting for his retirement. As a teenager, he joined the Merchant Marine in 1944 and made 59 Atlantic crossings on the US Army Hospital Ship, Algonquin during the war. After leaving the Merchant Marine, he enlisted in the US Marine Corp. in late 1945 and served in China, Guam. He was involved with police work at the Marine Corp Base in Quantico, VA. Following his Honorable Discharge, Stanley returned to New Jersey and married his high school sweetheart, Audrey Jockel in 1950. She predeceased him in 1995. He worked for General Electric Corp. for 30 years. He completed his career as a quality assurance inspector for several small aviation and surgical instrument manufacturers.
Stanley is survived by his son Glenn Bukowski and his wife Kathryn.
Cremation services were private. Stanley, along with his beloved Audrey, will be laid to rest with Military Honors at the B/G William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ in the spring. Letters of condolence may be sent by visiting www.kedzfuneralhome.com
