Obituary of Mary B. Malek

Mary "Marion" B. (Cox) Malek, 89 (03/20/30) of Toms River, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday June 8, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Mary was proudly born and raised in Bayonne, NJ where she met the love of her life, John Malek. In her adult life she lived in Staten Island, NY and then settled in Beachwood, NJ in 1958 where she and John raised their family. After his passing, Mary lived in both Pine Beach and Toms River, NJ.
Mary worked for the Jersey Shore Savings Bank in Silverton and was Branch Manager at the time of her retirement. She then worked for GalaxSeaTravel as a travel agent for about 15 years allowing her to share her passion and love of travel. Mary was also a Eucharistic minister of St. Barnabas RC Church in Bayville, NJ. She enjoyed spending time with family, reading, going to the beach, traveling, and playing cards. Mary was an exceptional woman and was a light that touched many lives whose love will live on forever.
Mary's family also wishes to express their immense gratitude to Complete Care at Bey Lea for the loving and exceptional care they showed Mary during her last 3.5 years. They will never be able to thank the staff enough.
Mary was pre-deceased by her parents Michael and Margaret Cox, sister Lorraine Cox, sister-in-law Geraldine Cox, and by her husband of 40 years, John Malek in 1991.
Mary's greatest achievement was her family. She is survived by her brother James Cox and his wife Eileen Cox; 3 sisters: Dorothy Duffy, Geraldine Campbell and her late husband Jack, Margaret Michigan and her late husband Albert; 7 children: Mary Fasanella and her late husband Joseph, John Malek and his wife Barbara, Robert Malek, Ann Samolinski and her husband Gerald, Eileen Nogiewich and her husband Benjamin Jr., Thomas Malek, Richard Malek; 16 grandchildren: Matthew Malek and his wife Ellie, Andrew Malek and his wife Jessy, Christi Leupold and her husband Aaron, Jake Malek and his wife Tricia, Jonathan Samolinski and his wife Robin, Amber Bailey and her husband Adam, Hilary Todar and her husband Robert, Andrew Fasanella and his wife Autumn, Christopher Fasanella, Melissa Broad and her husband Adam, Benjamin Nogiewich III and his fiancé Marissa, John Nogiewich and his wife Sara, Ally Malek, Tori Malek, Jaxson Malek, Blake Malek; and by 13 great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Brayden, Jackson, Lyla, Toby, Ella, Clara, Keane, Sterling, Coughlin, Henry, Evangeline, and Ellyanna.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org in her memory.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Kedz Funeral Home (1123 Hooper Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753) from 4 pm to 7 pm.
Services will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church (685 Hooper Ave, Toms River, NJ 08753) at 10 am.
