I am forever grateful that I was one that he loved. Rod & Judy have been dear friends for the past 49 years. He’s been a spiritual father to me since I was 18. He and his dear wife Judy invited ne into their family and lived with them as a daughter for 3 years until my wedding day 12/2/78. Rod’s counsel and love was used by God to bring me to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Their love, counsel, and example helped greatly to prepare me for marriage and for life. The entire family demonstrated so much love and acceptance to me, the then very broken teenager. Sharing their faith in Jesus has changed my life for the better for nearly 49 years now. They lived out their faith for all to see and for those of us blessed to know them, they demonstrated godly, Christian love. My heart is broken that Rod is gone from this life, but my spirit rejoices that he is face to face with the Savior he loved and served so well. Looking forward to the day we all rejoice around God’s throne.

Rod was always in Church with a smile for every one. My last memory was when he was working with hospice and my mom Shirley McVoy was on the hospice program. He came to visit my mom weekly and my mom enjoyed him spending time with her. He was a special man to many

It all started in his family living class . I was one of his A students and last day of school ( all of us who had A) three our name in a hat . If we were picked , we would teach the class the last day at school. Well, I was chosen ( I use that word for biblical reasons) We had a great da/y of conversation and Rod took me to his home for lunch. That’s when I met Brett ( barely 4 ) and Judy. Rod prayed before lunch which open the conversation about spiritual things. Before our long lunch was over I turned to Rod and Judy, “ hey, I have a hand full of friends who would like to talk about spiritual things”; and that’s how it’ all started.
Rod and Judy hospitality and open door policy welcomed all of us. As some one on Facebook perfectly stated, “he loved us all”, “ they loved us, and we are all better for it!
Getting ready to board the plane, regretfully I won’t be able to make my way down to Toms River. We all know it’s not goodbye , it s more like “ see you later!”
Because of Him,
