Helene & Family, As you probably are aware, Ron and I go back over 55 years of friendship. I am going to miss him as will you all. Ron was always a reminder to me of my past who I was then and who I am now…not much change with either of us, we were always there for each other and that is what friendship and companionship is all about. We shared a number of common interests but by far, fishing and the outdoors were at the top of the list. We did A LOT of fishing together over the years, and I wish he was given more time so we could have added some more trips to the list. Lots of good times, funny stories and fish caught, or at least attempted to be caught. When I was 14, Ron got me my first job working with Mr. Stanton, a local lawn and landscape contractor. We had some fun times working together and pulling pranks on good old Mr. Stanton…nice guy, he was! Ron introduced me and my eldest son Jeff to Maine bass fishing and we had a great time up in the north woods. Of course, Ron out-fished both of us put together. Ron was a very skilled fisherman. I don’t know how much that venture to Maine had to do with it, but Jeff ended up attending the University of Maine and on this past Monday, July 28th successfully defended his Master Degrees thesis with focus on fisheries management. And so the circle spins around and as we pass the torch to the next generation I hope with all my heart that the things that really matter in life won’t get lost in the fast pace and sometimes too impersonal society that we live in today. Ron and I shared those concerns, beliefs and hope for the future: personal responsibility, kindness, hard work for a good cause, humility and humor, and the willpower to stay the course and fight the good fight. He lived by those principles and I hope I can honor him by continuing down that pathway. Thanks Ron! - Randy
