Obituary of Ronald Swayze

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ron 'Ronnie' Swayze, 64 of Beachwood, NJ, went home to his Heavenly Father, peacefully, surrounded by his family on July 25, 2014. He 'fought the good fight, finished the course and kept the faith'. He was a loving and self-sacrificing husband and father. Ron was born in Irvington and lived in Lincroft before moving to Beachwood. He worked as a chemist for International Flavors and Fragrances in Hazlet for the past 44 years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Toms River where he served as an extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, the Veritas men's group, and he was active in the Flame of Love Catholic Charismatic Prayer Group. Ron was also a member of Trout Unlimited. Ron also served in the Army Reserves. He was loved by so many people, showing Jesus' love to all he met. They were touched and encouraged by the light of the Holy Spirit shining through him. Ron was known to fishermen as an expert angler, often consulted for the perfect fly for different waters. In his early days Ron was passionate about building and racing his modified stock cars. Wall Stadium was his last venue. He was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Dorothy Gross. Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Helene Stroik Swayze; son Daniel of Beachwood; daughter, Amanda Strader and her husband Daniel of Manchester; two granddaughters, Victoria and Laurel Strader of Manchester; brother, Raymond Gross of Shallotte, NC; sister, Eldine Ozer of Keansburg; 10 nieces and nephews and many loving friends. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper, Toms River. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Saturday at St. Joseph's Church, Hooper Ave., Toms River. Condolences may be sent by visiting www.kedzfuneralhome.com
