Obituary of Eleanor Rodgers

Eleanor Rodgers "Jinx," 91, of Toms River passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019, surrounded by her family. Jinx was married to the love of her life, Joseph Rodgers, for 68 years. She was a member of St. Justin's Church in Toms River. As a first generation American, Jinx was born to Polish immigrants and was one of seven children. Sewing, painting, and making crafts were only some of her favorite hobbies. She also really enjoyed crabbing in Barnegat Bay with her family. Jinx is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph Rodgers; sons, Joseph Rodgers and his wife Kathy, Robert Rodgers and his wife Karen, and Kenneth Rodgers and his wife Patricia; daughters, Deborah Schelmay and husband Theodore, and Theresa Rodgers Brady and her late husband Hugh Brady; brother, Leon Spychalski and his wife Rose; grandchildren, Douglas, Christine, Joseph, Keith, Mariel, Robert, Alexander, Fletcher, Zachary, Christina and Hugh; great-grandchildren, Marco, Brandelyn, Brayden and Aileen. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019, at St. Justin the Martyr Roman Catholic Church, 975 Fischer Boulevard in Toms River. Burial will follow at The Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown.
